Temporary Hair Styles for the Holidays

If you want to try a new hairstyle without having to worry about what everyone will think of it at school, you should plan to try your new style over a school holiday. That way if you hate your new look, it will be gone before you are back in school. Your parents might also be more willing to agree with an outrageous hairstyle if you plan to do it while you are on school holidays.

So what makes a great hairstyle for your holiday? The key element to a holiday hairstyle is that it must be temporary. You do not want a hairstyle that will outlast your holiday. After you try out your new temporary hair style, you can always decide to do the same look again. But if you do not like the way your hair turned out, you won’t have to live with it for very long. Here are three different temporary ways that you can change your hairstyle.

Colour

Dying your hair is one of the easiest ways to make a noticeable difference to your hair. However, there are several rules of thumb that you must follow if you want to make sure that your colour is only temporary. First, the most obvious answer is to read the labels and see how many washings your hair dye survive. If you are dying your hair for a short period of time, there are many dyes that will wash out completely within a few washings, allowing you to dye your hair pink or blue without having to live with it for months.

Second, remember that not all hair handles colour treatments the same way. If you have a lighter hair colour, you want to be especially careful when dying your hair, even if the colour is not supposed to be permanent. Light hair is easier to dye, but it is often much more difficult to get rid of the colour because the changes are so dramatic.

Highlight

Highlights and lowlights are a great alternative for those who do not want to commit to a full change in hair colour. Highlights generally will have a more dramatic appearance when you initially dye your hair. But by the time your school holiday is over, the colour will have faded enough so that the highlights show only a slight but noticeable contrast from your hair’s natural colour.

Accessories and Styling

It is amazing how much you can actually do with your hair without actually changing your hair colour or getting it cut. If you do not know what you want to do with your hair, you can always visit a hair salon to get your hair professionally styled.

There are so many options to consider. Hair extensions can be a great way to give your hair more volume and length. Alternatively, you could get your hair styled in an updo or some other style you might like.

If you don’t have the money to go to a salon, you can still try something new at home. If your hair is straight, you could try using a curling iron or mousse to make your hair curly. Or if your hair is naturally wavy or curly, use a hair straightener to get a sleek, straight look.

Temporary hair styles are great because they are very flexible. After you try out your new temporary hair style, you can always decide to do the same look again. But if you do not like the way your hair turned out, you won’t have to live with it for very long.
